Aurora Hotel Collection chief scoops National Award for Success
Steven McLeod, Founder & Chief Executive of the Aurora Hotel Collection, scooped yet another industry award when he collected the Benromach ‘Award for Success’ at the 2013 DRAM Awards, the Scottish licensed trade industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, which took place at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel on Monday evening (24th June).
He beat off competition from other hoteliers, restaurateurs and licensees to win the award which recognises an individual who has shown outstanding vision and drive to expand their business and grow turnover. This latest accolade follows his group’s recent success at the prestigious Scottish Hotel Awards 2013 where they picked up seven accolades, including ‘Scottish Hotel Group of the Year’.
McLeod has built one of the country’s most dynamic hotel groups based on two major cornerstone: identifying, acquiring and developing properties that offer ‘potential’ and instilling an ethos of customer service and excellence among the Aurora team. This is proving to be a winning formula, and the Aurora estate, though still relatively small, is popular among a diverse range of audiences - weddings, meetings & conferences, leisure and corporate customers – who have become loyal and regular patrons.
The Judges said: “Steven is focussed and motivational. He has grit and determination and the difficulties of the past few years have only made him stronger. He has grown his business over the past twelve months and his group now owns seven hotels – one for every year that he has been in business and he is still on the acquisition trail. His aim to have 20 hotels in 20 years! He has certainly got the drive to succeed.”
